Derek Hawkins Carpentry is a well-established company, based in Southampton since 1988. We are a Father and Son business offering a professional, friendly and reliable service from two fully qualified (City & Guild) carpenters. We cover all aspects of joinery, carpentry and cabinet making, including fitted furniture, door frames and doors, conservatories and windows.

I have been self-employed for over 25 years after completing a 4 year apprenticeship at Vosper Thorny Croft and obtaining City & Guilds in Carpentry and Joinery, having worked and lived in and around Southampton for the whole of my career. I pride myself in delivering and realising my customers’ wants and needs in and around their homes. As a result, a high percentage of my business is from repeat customers and referrals. 

I can offer all aspects of bespoke carpentry and joinery, from fitted wardrobes, desks and bureaus to shoe cabinets and bookcases made to fit specific and sometimes limiting spaces from the designing stage right through to the completion of the piece. All our pieces are made in our fully equipped workshop and brought to site and fitted as required. However, I am also happy to undertake general carpentry and refurbishment work in your home, such as stairs, kitchens, bathrooms, floors, hanging of doors and fitting of shelves, decking, fencing and pergolas etc. 

I provide the highest standard of workmanship with minimum disturbance to your daily life and routine while working in your home, offering competitive prices as over the years I have built a good rapport with local suppliers in the Southampton area and am able to pass on my hard earned discounts to you the customer to ensure a professional and reliable service.
